Opposition Calls On Liberal Government To Address Lack Of Dialysis Treatment In Barrington Passage

For years, residents in the Barrington area have been lobbying to get a dialysis clinic.

Despite hundreds of letters and petitions, the plea has always fallen on seemingly deaf ears.

PC Argyle-Barrington MLA Chris d’Entremont, a former health minister, again raised the issue in the House.

He says the government needs to establish a satellite dialysis unit in the area.

“So that people won’t have to drive as far, especially on days like today when it’s storming and you can’t get to where you need to be in time. They should be able to have it closer to home.

He says there are 14 people in Shelburne County having to travel to receive the service in Yarmouth.

He says Health Minister Randy Delorey’s response was that government is “looking at it”.

d’Entremont says the Liberals have had over 4 years of “looking”.

He says it’s time they took action.
