Breaking ground on a new health care facility has been a long time coming.
It’s taken seven years of hard work and fundraising for ‘Our Health Centre’ in Chester.
Board Chairperson Don Monroe says a ceremony will be held Sunday.
“We have raised about $3.65-million from a broad base of the community and the municipality has been helpful along with the provincial government’s department of health and wellness.”
Monroe adds significant donations such as land, architecture and a project manager is making it possible for them to complete the project.
There was also help from more than 200 volunteers.
The health centre will be a collaborative space for family doctors and nurse practitioners.
It will also include will include examining rooms, blood collection services, along with clinics and programs offered by the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
If all goes well construction will begin November 1st.
