Panthers Hockey Team Help Battle Cancer In Saturday Night’s Game

The Park View Panthers Hockey team is using sport to help.

The team is donating all their proceeds from the gate at the game this weekend to a member in the community.

The funds are going to help cover any costs of Shawn Crowe’s battle with cancer.

Crowe’s son plays on the Panthers team, so it hits close to home.

Team Manager Michael MacLellan says parents and coaching staff approached him to find a way to help.

He says the team was 100 per cent on board.

“Just kind of brings the community together, gives us some awareness of what’s going on and shows us how precious things can be,” he says.

“Shows us it’s always good to lend a helpig hand if you’re in a position to do so.”

MacLellan says he is new to town, but sees a very supportive community.

He says he isn’t surprised people wanted to step up and help.

“To help him through this battle he’s going to be going through financially,” he says.

“[And] to let him know there’s a group of support around him, from the hockey team and from the community.”

The Panthers face-off against the Northeast Kings Titans at the LCLC.

Puck drop at 7pm.
