Police investigate Lake Loon shooting that injured 41-year-old

A shooting in Lake Loon has sparked an investigation by the RCMP, with help from the HRP’s Integrated General Investigation Section.

Officer’s say just before 9 p.m. on May 19, multiple units – including the Halifax RCMP detachment, HRP’s Canine Unit, and EHS – responded to a report of an injured man. They say he had gone to a home on Montague Mines Rd. seeking help.

When crews arrived, officers found the 41-year-old Halifax man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say the man was walking along Montague Mines Rd. when a burgundy SUV approached and shots were fired. They say he managed to escape by diving into the ditch before going door-to-door asking for help.

RCMP and HRP continue to investigate, and are now asking the public for information.
