Around 25 kids skipped Saturday morning cartoons yesterday to hear local politicians read from their favourite children’s books.
It was part of South Shore Regional Libraries’ celebration of Family Literacy Day.
Lunenburg MLA Suzanne Lohnes-Croft was one of the readers.

“When you take opportunities like this, and you do it on a regular routine, and children see their parents reading for themselves I think it sets a great pattern for life-long learning.”
Lohnes-Croft says the library isn’t the uptight study hall it once was.
She says it’s become a great place where parents and children can come to learn and have fun.
