The Liverpool Privateers are two wins away from their first ever Nova Scotia Junior ‘B’ Hockey League title.
The Privateers are locked in a tight final series against the Pictou County Scotians, tied at two, heading into Tuesday night’s game five at 7:30 at Queens Place Emera Centre.
Frenzied fans have come from across the South Shore to show their support with more than 920 people watching Saturday’s game three.
Head Coach Matt Quinn says the fans have been unbelievable and the players are thankful.
“Not everybody is from that community but they do take pride in representing Queens County because when you go and play in front of 100 fans or less than that in many arenas across the league, it doesn’t go unnoticed.”
Despite the support, Liverpool has won four of eight playoff games played at Queens Place Emera Centre.
Quinn doesn’t know why they’ve had difficulty winning at home.
“We have an amazing road record, unlike any I’ve seen in a long tme. We have a home ice when you’re looking at the rinks in the league, one of the best in the league and on top of that we have the best support in the league by far.”
He says his team needs to focus on playing one game at a time as they try and clinch a spot in the Eastern Canadian Championships.
This is the Privateers third season in Liverpool after relocating from Tantallon in 2014.
