The film industry is getting more money from government.
Another $1.5 million is being added to the $10 million budget for the Film and Television Production Incentive Fund.
Laurel Broten, President of Nova Scotia Business Inc., explains why the top up was needed.
“When we reach that $10 million mark, we don’t have the ability to receive any further application,” says Broten. “What the department of business and the provinces announcement of today has allowed us to do, is give us that capacity to be able to continue to receive applications.”
That brings the total to $11.5-million.
NSBI has doled out $4.9-million from the fund so far this year.
The Incentive Fund provides 25-32 per cent of eligible costs such as labour for filmmakers.
It replaced the Film Tax Credit which the McNeil government cut in 2015.
