Smoke-Free Nova Scotia is applauding steps taken by the provincial government. Nova Scotia’s health minister has announced changes to legislation, banning the use of e-cigarettes in indoor public places. It will change the definition of smoke to deal with waterpipes and vapour from e-cigarettes. President Krista MacMullin says they will continue trying to ban menthol cigarettes. She says,”Youth that do smoke, in a recent survey, about 35 per cent of them use menthol compared to 4.5 per cent of adults, so we’ll still continue with that.” The change would also restrict stores from selling e-cigarettes to people under the age of 19, and from displaying, advertising or promoting them. Tobacco use is the number one preventable cause of death in Canada.
