Province Encourages People To Buy More Local Food

People are being encouraged to purchase more local food this month.

Minister of Agriculture Keith Colwell says September is the height of harvest season.

He says it’s a chance for people to support farmers and put money back into the local economy.

According to a report, 15 per cent of Nova Scotians’ diet comes from local sources.

People can also join the 50 per cent local food club by signing up online.

More than 3,000 people signed up last year.

To join the club, individuals, families and groups can sign up online here.

To find local products, visit here and use the where-to-buy search engine.
