The province is looking for people to make Nova Scotia more accessible.
Two committees have been formed that will make recommendations on both education, and preventing and removing barriers in buildings and outdoor spaces.
The minister responsible for the Accessibility Act, Mark Furey says they need to fill up to 20 positions on each committee.
“We’re looking for people with disability. We want to know that half of those committees are people who are living the experience. But we also recognize there are stakeholder groups involved.”
Furey says those groups include business owners and everyday Nova Scotians.
“Educators, parents with subject-matter expertise, and community members, quite frankly who are living this, either themselves or in support of family members.”
The deadline to apply is January 17.
Furey expects to receive recommendations on accessibility from the committees by 2021, with an eye to having them in place by 2022.
