The province says 500,000 low and middle income earners are now getting tax relief.
Changes that came into effect on New Years Day mean 63,000 more Nova Scotians will not pay any provincial income tax in 2018.
Savings up to $264 are possible.
This was done through an increase in the tax-free basic personal amount.
Low income earners get the largest benefit, with the amount increasing by 35 percent.
In a release today, Premier Stephen McNeil says it’s more money in the pockets of Nova Scotians that need it most.
Finance Minister Karen Casey calls it one of the largest tax breaks in our province’s history.
The savings will total $85 million annually.
