Queens Mayor Clears The Air About Former Liverpool Courthouse

The mayor of the Region of Queens Municipality is setting the record straight about the former courthouse in Liverpool.

David Dagley says he’s seen several comments on social media that aren’t true about the potential of moving the library into that building.

A feasibility study, conducted by Architecture 49, was discussed at Region of Queens municipal council last month.

He says council released the study to be transparent to the public.

“And I would like to assure residents that at some future time council will be deliberating upon what happens at that courthouse, but no decisions have presently been made.”

The cost to move the library into the former courthouse is estimated at $2.2-million.

The library is currently located at the Rossignol Cultural Centre but its lease expires at the end of May.

Region of Queens council is expected to resume discussions early this year.
