Former NHL stars are returning to Queens County for the second straight year. The likes of Ray Bourque, Gary Leeman, Bob Sweeney and Stephane Richer will take on a team of local players in the 2nd Annual NHL Legends Charity Hockey Classic. This year, proceeds will be going to the Queens SkatePark Association after raising money for the Liverpool Volunteer Fire Department in 2013. Co-chair for the event, Joel Zwicker, says they’re hoping to raise $15,000 for the cause. He says, “When you are trying to build a facility that has a $750,000 fundraising goal, any amount that you can put towards that is a help and especially when you can start putting larger numbers like $10,000, $15,000, $20,000 it’s a huge help to make that dream a reality here in Queens.” Tickets range from $25 to $75 and can be purchased at Queens Place Emera Centre or at A.A Munro Insurance in Bridgewater or Liverpool. The game will be held in Liverpool on September 30.
