RCMP Recognize International Day For The Elimination Of Racial Discrimination

RCMP in Nova Scotia are recognizing a significant day.

Police will attend a church service on Sunday in Lower Sackville for the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

Corporal Christine Hobin says they are trying to do their part.

“It’s a great way to celebrate with the community and remember that we have to stop racism and the RCMP is concerned about that. It’s also a wonderful way to have some fellowship with the black communities in the province.”

The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is observed annually on March 21.

It was on this day in 1960 when police shot and killed 69 people at a peaceful demonstration in South Africa.
