Winter driving can be a real hassle.
Sometimes, it can take longer to get to where you’re going.
Even if you’re late, it’s important to make sure your vehicle is snow free.
Corporal Dal Hutchinson, Media Relations Officer with the Nova Scotia RCMP says it’s the law to to clear snow off your vehicle before travelling.
“When you pick up speed, snow on the roof is going to loosen up and where is going to go? It will hit the vehicle travelling behind you. It’s something we see far too often on our roads in Nova Scotia, and it’s a perfect time for people to be reminded. Clean the snow off your vehicle before pulling away.”
Cpl. Hutchinson says RCMP often get complaints of vehicles being damaged.
He says you could be charged $180 and up under the Motor Vehicle Act for having snow on the roof of your vehicle.
He also encourages motorists to slow down during the winter months.
