RCMP Responded To Three Serious Collisions, One Fatal, On Highways Tuesday

One person has died following a series of car crashes yesterday afternoon.

Lunenburg District RCMP responded to three serious collisions, north of Highway 103 in the space of three hours Tuesday.

The first was a two-vehicle head-on collision which happened around 2:00pm on Highway 10 at Meiseners Section.

Four people were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A single vehicle roll-over closed Highway 12 at Seffernsville for two hours starting at 4:30pm.

Again, the lone occupant suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

While police were assisting, another call came for a two-vehicle, fatal collision on Highway 14 near Sherwood Road.

The driver of one car escaped with serious injuries, while the other was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway 14 was closed for part of the night as investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash.

RCMP Sergeant Mark MacPherson says damp conditions and temperatures close to freezing can change road conditions quickly.

While it isn’t known what role road conditions played in any of these accidents, as the investigation is ongoing, MacPherson reminds drivers to slow down and drive for conditions.
