RCMP Say Social Media Threat Directed Against Yarmouth County School Is Unfounded

RCMP say an online threat directed against a Yarmouth County school is unfounded.

Yarmouth Rural RCMP remained at Drumlin Heights Consolidated School Thursday until it was determined that there was no risk to students or staff.

Early last evening RCMP issued an update.

Corporal Stacey Gosling is quoted in the release as saying the RCMP takes threats of this nature seriously. “We wanted to advise students and our community that the investigation determined the threat to be unfounded.”

No other information has been released and the investigation has concluded.

Tri-County Regional Centre for Education executive director Paul Ash told CJLS News yesterday that the school did go into lockdown, but it was a planned drill over the lunch hour and had nothing to do with any threats.

Ash says the planned lockdown may have led to the threat being made.
