RCMP To Motorists – “Reduce Speed To Avoid Hydroplaning”

Police in Nova Scotia is urging people to be careful while driving today.

Lots of rain has fallen overnight and the RCMP is concerned about potential hydroplaning.

Constable Mark Skinner says you shouldn’t be rushing to your destination.

“Take your time and leave a little earlier if possible. The biggest thing is to slow down, reduce your speed and use your wipers.”

Skinner says keep calm if you do hydroplane and avoid braking or turning your wheel suddenly.

He also suggests keeping your headlights on and drive in the tire tracks on the road from the vehicle in front of you.
