Relay for Life South Shore is about to take over the Exhibition Grounds in Bridgewater.
Hundreds of people are expected to participate in the emotional event Saturday from noon until midnight.
Development Officer with the Canadian Cancer Society, Jo-Ann Mead, says they will honour survivors at the start.
“We always traditionally start off Relay for Life with the first lap dedicated to our survivors.”
Mead says there will also be live music, bouncy castles, local food vendors.
She says they are back to a 12-hour event after being a six-hour one for years.
“The luminary ceremony, which is always the most impactful part of it, is going to be at 9:30 p.m. The different themed laps, all of the teams coming and decorating their tents and decorating themselves as they walk around the track is still remaining.”
The event has always been held on the first Friday in June, but Mead adds organizers felt Saturday would work better this year.
Lockeport will also hold a Relay for Life event tonight at 7 p.m at Lockeport Regional High School.
