The CEO of the South Shore Regional Enterprise Network says the number one problem for businesses is trying to find the right people for the job.
Carole Lee Reinhardt recently gave an update to the Municipality of Chester.
She says companies can’t find people while the unemployed are saying there are no jobs available and are leaving Nova Scotia.
“Obviously, whether there is an information disconnect or the information is not getting to the right people, it’s a really amazing phenomenon. You need people to build your workforce and grow your business.”
She says there needs to be improvement in the way jobs are advertised for people looking for work.
Reinhardt says expanding businesses look at a region as a whole, not individual municipalities.
“We really need to work together and partner, not duplicate efforts, but leverage resources and leverage what we have invested to work together to move forward.”
She says there is a 10% unemployment rate in this area but questions where the people are at.
The REN seeks opportunities to increase economic development and grow businesses in nine municipal units between Chester and Shelburne.
