Renewable Energy Facility Proposed For Bridgewater

The NSCC campus in Bridgewater could soon be home to a new renewable energy facility.

A public information meeting is planned for tomorrow as part of the final stages of approval.

Richard Pearson, President of Renewable Energy Works says their process uses wood that would otherwise be waste.

“We’re not using the typical kind of combined heat and power boilers,” he says. “We’re actually turning the biomass–the bark–into sustainable, clean synthesis gas.”

He says that gas is used to fuel generators that can create electricity.

Pearson says it’s actually good to have different kinds of energy working together.

“I think what you’ll find is that renewable energy development is out pacing conventional fossil fuel based energy systems in terms of growth.”

Pearson say now is the time for towns to begin investing in this technology.

The meeting is being held at the college starting at 6 p.m.
