Recent estimates put the cost of renovations between $1-million and $1.5-million.
The list of fixes includes a new foundation, heating system and other work.
Initial design work will start within the next month, with renovations beginning later this year.
Perkins House is expected to reopen in summer 2018.
The house was built in 1766 and is one of the oldest buildings in the Nova Scotia Museum collection.
