Salvation Army closing Liverpool church and family services location

The Salvation Army says it will close its Liverpool Community Church and Community and Family Services location later this summer.

The closure is set to take effect July 1.

In a release, the organization says the decision was made after reviewing investments in the community and declining use of the local operation.

The Salvation Army says it regularly evaluates locations to ensure long-term sustainability and fiscal responsibility.

The organization says it plans to work with other community groups and service providers to help minimize disruptions for people who rely on local support programs.

While the Liverpool location is closing, The Salvation Army says it will continue operating nearby locations, including in Bridgewater and elsewhere across Nova Scotia.

Officials say those needing assistance will continue to have access to services through those other locations and community partners.
