Seeing The Lights

The other evening, I got my mother into the car and took her for a drive to see the lights. There are plenty of them to see, and more seem to get added all the time. There are some really great displays. Some that are truly over the top.

Over the years there have certainly been some local favourites. I’m sure you can think of many that have kept us spellbound with their displays. But it takes a lot of work to put together a truly spectacular Christmas light display.

I will say it certainly impresses me. I have mentioned before that I am not now, nor have I ever been, much of a decorator. I like to see what others come up with, but I just don’t have the time and patience to do it myself.

In any case, my mother, who manages to remember displays of many Christmases in the past, was certainly impressed with what we saw the other evening. We’ll have to do it again before the day arrives, since there are more to see. But on our little trip around Liverpool, she was rather taken by some of the larger public displays, like the trees in Privateer Park and those lined up in front of the museum, as well as many of the others we passed along the way. And it did make for a nice little family outing, not something to be taken lightly this year.

Get out and enjoy.
