Seven Mile Lake Fire Now 350 Hectares

The Department of Natural Resources says they expect extreme fire activity today because of winds and a lack of rain.

Crews will be working on building guards and reinforcing lines around the Seven Mile Lake fire in Annapolis county. It is 15% contained but has now grown to 350 hectares.

Heavy equipment is being used to build a guard around the Ten Mile Lake fire in Queens County.

The 10 hectare fire is not yet contained.

The remaining fires in Annapolis and Queens counties have been contained and crews are working to put them out.

A one hectare fire in Clyde River Shelburne county is 70% contained.

Weather conditions continue to cause challenges with fire suppression.

20 firefighters are expected to arrive from New Brunswick today and will help where needed.

Trunk 8 near Maitland Bridge, Annapolis Co., is still closed.

DNR is reminding everyone that travel and activities within the woods are restricted.

People can still access beaches and provincial parks, but trail systems are restricted and the fire ban remains in effect.
