The Town of Shelburne is seeking an arrest warrant for the owner of the MV Farley Mowat.
Mayor Karen Mattatall says the town’s lawyer will apply to the court today for the warrant.
Tracy Dodds failed to meet several deadlines to remove the vessel from the Shelburne Marine Terminal.
Dodds faces thousands of dollars in fines and up to 20 days in jail.
Mattatall says a warrant is necessary.
“Because he is in contempt and has not met the court order so that really is our next option.”
Mattatall says the setback is disappointing but she’s still holding out hope the vessel will eventually be removed from the harbour.
However, when that will happen is more unknown now than ever.
