Shelburne County: Two Men Charged For Street Racing

Two Shelburne County men can’t drive for a week after a high speed race on Highway 103. A police officer stopped two vehicles on Sunday night after they were found to be traveling in excess of 150km/h. A 19-year-old man was charged with stunting. Sgt. Ben Parry with Shelburne County RCMP says risky behaviour is glamorized for young people. He says, “Young people sometimes take what they see in the media and they try to apply that to real life and unfortunately, TV and the movies are not real life and the consequences of your actions they don’t go away at the end of a two hour movie.” The other driver, a 26-year-old man was told to remain at roadside but left the area. He was arrested after turning himself into RCMP and charged with stunting and failing to obey a police officer. Both drivers face fines of over $2400 if convicted.
