An attack on the LGBTQ community in Orlando is hitting close to home.
The Town of Shelburne is raising the pride flag today and lowering it to half mast after 50 people were killed and more than 50 others injured.
The shooting occurred early Sunday morning at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

Mayor Karen Mattatall says its a violent act and the town wants to demonstrate their concern.
“It should stay at half mast until the funeral of the last victim and then following that where it’s the typical month that we have the flag raised it will go back to full staff.”
Council members made the decision through email last night to lower the flag.
Mattatall says she doesn’t believe anybody locally knows the victims.
“But, it’s just the degree of the violence and the hatred that we want to demonstrate that it does concern us and we do care about the victims and their families.”
The rainbow colors will fly at town hall.
Mattatall will ask council at their Wednesday meeting to lower the Canadian flag on June 23 in recognition of the national day of remembrance for victims of terrorism.
