Shelburne: Local Company Awarded Contract To Build New Guild Hall

A contract has been awarded to build the new Guild Hall in Shelburne.

E Doucet Construction of Hammond Street was chosen by the town.

The company applied and was within budget to build the structure on Maiden Lane.

Mayor Karen Mattatall says it’s a great project for a local company.

“Really anxious to see work get started. Construction is to begin by the end of thie month and it should be completed by the fall.”

Both the Town of Shelburne and ACOA have committed $203,000 each to build the new hall.

The old Guild Hall, which was built in 1994, was demolished.

Mattatall says the new hall will better serve the community by being more accessible.

“It will still have an open concept, but we’ll have some enclosure to give it some protection a little later in the season and lights, electricity and water.”

The new structure will hold festivals, concerts and the Shelburne Farmer’s Market.
