A wind turbine in Shelburne has not performed as well as expected.
However, the warden of the municipality says that’s expected to change.
The small 50-kilowatt wind project in Sandy Point has generated roughly $40,000 of revenue in two years.
Roger Taylor says it was expected to contribute about $60,000 to the municipality.
“The location wasn’t our first choice but it was the choice that we felt would be quite suitable. We’ll work to hopefully continue to improve the performance of it.”
Taylor says the municipality is working with other wind turbine owners to also reduce maintenance costs.
