The issue’s been raised before but failed to materialize.
The Town of Shelburne and Municipality of Shelburne are talking amalgamation.
The two have formed a committee to begin discussions.
Shelburne Mayor Karen Mattatall says people shouldn’t worry about any loss of community identity.
“It’s the governance structure that will change. Identity is something not to be fearful of … loss of identity.”
She says it could be some time before there’s any change.
However, there’s some thought of trying to move ahead before next year’s municipal elections.
