Shelburne Will Be Dancing In The Streets

A dance that has been a tradition in Shelburne for over two hundred years has been resurrected.

The Shelburne Street Dance started in 1783 but didn’t happen last year.

Marta Stork is organizing the dance because she didn’t want to see the tradition die.

“One of the most charming things we found when we came here was this street dance. Where people of all ages get together and get to know each other and dance together.”

Water street will be closed and a live band will play from 9:00pm-1:00am Saturday night.

Stork says it’s important to keep these events alive.

“Hopefully we’ll have good weather so it will be dancing under the stars with the rest of your community.”

Stork also heads up the Shelburne Film Expo and she says all proceeds from the dance will benefit the Shelburne film camp.
