The Mayor of Yarmouth is proud of their new transit program.
A 14-passenger bus started making the rounds on February first.
Pam Mood says the positive response from the community reassures her the investment was a good one.
“We are looking to provide the best quality of life for our people,” she says. “So, if that means providing them transportation to get from point ‘a’ to point ‘b’ then that’s what we have to do.”
Mood says people are even bringing their bicycles along, making the bus part of their daily commute.
Using smart cards as the payment method has allowed the town to track the numbers each week.
She says five months in, the numbers have been steadily growing.
