For the fourth year, people are riding their bikes for those who need some help.
Souls Harbour is hosting the annual Ride For Refuge this weekend.
The ride supports several local charities who care for the displaced, vulnerable and exploited.
Executive Director for Souls Harbour Michelle Porter says the ride caters to everyone.
“It’s people who have heard of us and have been wanting to help in a practical way. Maybe they’re not able to come down Monday to Friday and serve a meal but they can take the family, come on, and go for a long walk.”
Porter says there’s lots to like about the ride.
“Why I like it is that it’s a partnership with other charities. So often there’s competition than doesn’t need to be there. And the other thing is it’s family friendly. It’s non-competitive.”
In addition to the 10km, 25km and 50km rides, a 5km walk is new for this year.
The walk and rides take the rails to trails path from St.Margaret’s Bay to Hubbards and things get underway at 9:00am Saturday.
