The South Shore Hospice Palliative Care Society has appointed its first executive director.
The society advocates for and provides hospice and palliative care support across Lunenburg and Queens counties.
Its work is focused on compassionate care and support for people with life-limiting illness, along with their families and caregivers.
The organization says the creation of the executive director role marks an important milestone in its continued growth.
Green brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in fundraising, partnerships, communications and organizational development in Nova Scotia.
She has held senior leadership roles with organizations including Autism Nova Scotia, Mount Saint Vincent University, United Way Halifax and the Prescott Group.
Green was born and raised in Lunenburg and brings a deep connection to the South Shore.
Trudy Johnson, chair of the society’s board of directors, says Green’s experience will help the organization continue expanding hospice and palliative care services in the region.
“Denise brings a wealth of experience in fundraising, relationship-building, and community leadership,” Johnson said.
Green says joining the society is personally and professionally meaningful.
“As someone who was born and raised on the South Shore, this opportunity is both professionally and personally meaningful,” Green said.
She says the organization has already made a strong impact through its board, volunteers, donors and supporters.
Green says she looks forward to helping build on that foundation and advance compassionate hospice and palliative care services for South Shore communities.
