SSRSB On A Break Until Nov 2

The new School Board members elected this week will have a few extra days to adjust before their first meeting.

Provincial policy says there isn’t allowed to be any meetings within 14 days of an election.

Current Board Chair Jennifer Naugler says she’s not sure why the policy was put in place…but she has a guess.

“I’m assuming part of it is to give newly elected board members time to prepare and get their calendar clear and set up with our new meeting dates,” she says. “Other than that I think it’s just been in the [education] act for a while.”

Naugler says there will be an orientation for new members along with professional development for everyone on the board in the upcoming weeks.

She says the next meeting with be on November 2 where they will hold their annual general meeting and appoint a board chair.

Naugler says she plans to re-offer for the position.
