Starting Family Arguments For Generations

Board games can be a great way to spend an evening. Or cause a fight. It seems to be one or the other.

Recently, a family ripped up a carpet in a room in their house to find something interesting. Someone had painted a giant Monopoly board on the floor.

Monopoly is one of those games. It can either bring people together, or cause fights. And this one seems to be no exception. The family doesn’t seem to know what to do with it. They could just cover it over again. Or keep it. The keep it option would probably mean it would have to be repainted, since it is looking a bit worn. And where would you get giant Community Chest and Chance cards? And giant dice. And giant game pieces.

Okay, the game pieces might not be that much trouble. It’s not too hard to find a Scottie dog. Getting him to stay on the proper game space might be a different story. And the horse might not be welcome in the house. But having a little race car could be fun.

And finding the money for the game could also be an issue. Not to mention people demanding $200, just because they passed Go while on their way to get a cup of tea.

So while it might look pretty cool, you can see that it could cause some problems, probably many more than I can think of.

I’m not sure I’d want a giant game board on the floor of my home. And if you did have one, which board game would you want? Maybe Risk. But only if they let me have a real cannon.
