The owner of Stew’s Corner Convenience and Gas in Greenfield is set to take over the canteen at Queens Place Emera Centre.
The Region of Queens had been trying to lease it to someone with experience in the food industry since the centre opened.
Mayor Christopher Clarke says the municipality was losing money and is relieved to hand over the reigns to Stewart Jenkins who has years of experience in the food industry.
“When Mr. Jenkins came forward with an interest in taking over that canteen. We were well pleased. We were able to work out an arrangement with him whereby we lease the canteen to him,” said Clarke.
The new canteen will be called the Hub after the Queens Place Emera Centre, which provides a hub for all of Queens County.
Jenkins will take over the lease on April 1.
