Still unclear on Tuesday impacts after weekend power outage at Victoria General

It is still unclear how surgeries at the Victoria General (VG) campus at the QEII in Halifax will be impacted, Tuesday, after a power outage at the hospital over the weekend.

In an email to our newsroom late Monday afternoon, Nova Scotia Health says, they will share an update as soon as they have confirmed information.

“At this time, everyone involved is focused on addressing the issue and ensuring operations continue safely,” says the health authority.

It was Friday night at about 11:30 p.m., when the power went out at the VG due to a problem with the backup generator. It was restored by 5:30 a.m., Saturday.

However, operating rooms in the Centennial building remain closed until the backup generator is fixed.

Nova Scotia Health says they will have a more detailed update later Monday evening.
