Temporary Charter To Replace Tancook Ferry

The Tancook Island ferry is out of service for engine repairs. The length of time that the William Ernst will be down depends on the nature of repairs and parts availability. A replacement charter ferry, the Eastern Points, is now in place so service can continue. The new charter is able to transport goods and supplies to the islands – including heating fuel – and up to 100 litres of gas per trip. It can also handle as much diesel as can be carried on board in approved containers. The capacity of the Eastern Points is 43 passengers per voyage. The charter ferry will remain in place until the regular ferry can return to service.
