The Lunenburg County branch of the Salvation Army is over half way towards their Christmas Kettle fundraising goal.
Major Wilson Sutton says volunteers have helped collect over $37,000 so far.
The charitable organization will keep gathering donations until Christmas Eve.
Sutton says he’s a bit concerned after noticing a few days where donations fell off.
“But, I know that the people are going to come along side with The Salvation Army because they know the ministry of The Salvation Army and what we do and how we help people through Christmas and the rest of the year.”
Sutton says they’re hoping to collect roughly $65,000 this year.
He says every little bit helps.
“When someone gives from their heart, God takes what they give and blesses it and that’s what helps to multiply it. If everyone gives a little, it all adds up in the end.”
Sutton says they still need volunteers to help gather money at the seven kettles in the Bridgewater-area.
