I’m in a great mood this morning, all because of the Turnip Elf! When I arrived in the studio this morning, there, just as every year just before Christmas was a beautiful turnip waiting for me!
What is the Turnip Elf? No one knows. But for 20 plus years the Turnip Elf has brought joy to all the good and not so good boys and girls here at CKBW.
It’s a goofy little thing that puts a smile on everyone’s faces here. And it’s always fun to see the puzzled, mystified looks on the newer employees who come in and find a turnip sitting on their desks.
If it was any other vegetable it just wouldn’t be the same. Imagine finding a carrot or a potato on your desk. Meh!
There is something silly and unusual about turnips.
And the fact that the Turnip Elf has never left a message as to why he leaves each of us a turnip just adds to the merriment.
Now, I didn’t fall off the back of a turnip truck so I suspect that there might be a real person behind the turnips.
But, somehow, especially this year I think I will believe more fully in the Turnip Elf!
