Three teens charged after overnight King Street break-in in Bridgewater

An overnight break-in at a King Street business in Bridgewater ended with three teenage suspects in custody after a police response that included a foot pursuit and K9 track.

Bridgewater Police Service says officers were called to the south King Street area around 1:30 a.m. on October 13 after receiving a report of a break-in in progress.

Police converged on the area near Old Bridge Street and Dominion Street.

Two suspects fled on foot, with one arrested immediately at the scene and a second taken into custody near King Street and Phoenix Street.

Police say their K9 unit, including police dog Keiji and handler Const. Morgan Gibson, helped track the third suspect after locating items considered evidence. Officers eventually boxed the suspect in and made the arrest.

No injuries were reported.

The three Lunenburg County youths each face charges of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, mischief under $5,000 and theft under $5,000.

Police allege windows were damaged and merchandise and cash were stolen.

Two of the accused also face charges of breaching court-ordered conditions. Police say one was under house arrest at the time and another was subject to a nightly curfew.

The identities of the accused cannot be published because they are under 18.

Two were released pending future youth court appearances in Bridgewater, while the third was remanded until at least a court appearance later this month.
