To Immunity And Beyond

Okay. Just getting to immunity would be nice.

I think I have an appointment for a vaccine.

I’m one of those people who fall in the age range that can get the vaccine they didn’t want to give to older people but now do want to give to older people. So they’ll probably change the age range soon, but that’s okay. I’m in there.

I did not really intend to get an appointment. I had gone online to see if I could get an appointment for my mother. She had tried several times on the phone yesterday, but couldn’t get through. But she’s not good with computers, so I decided to try to help out. I never did get an appointment for her, but I noticed that I could try for one so I decided to give it a shot. It worked. I have an appointment.

I would much rather have an appointment for my mother, but I suppose me getting a shot helps a bit. But this vaccine thing has been getting confusing.

First, it depended on where you lived in the province. Then, to ease traffic on the phones and websites, it depended on what month you were born. Then they came up with this vaccine for people in their mid-60s. Although I know people who just turned 65 and that means they are not eligible for that one. Or weren’t. But that might change now.

It’s hard to keep up to date some days, but all I know is, I have an appointment.

And as soon as I get that shot, I can go back to doing things like licking doorknobs. Okay. Maybe not all doorknobs. But I may kiss one. Just as a symbolic gesture.

But as good as I might feel to get the shot myself, I’ll feel even better when the rest of my family have them.

That’s the funny thing about this past year. While I don’t want to catch the disease myself, the idea of possibility of spreading it to others has been what weighs on me most.
