With Hallowe’en fast approaching I wanted to tell you why I’ve never turned away teenage trick or treaters at my door. I know some people do turn them away and say that the teens are too old to trick or treat but I disagree. Come on, people, it’s just a little bit of candy or a bag of chips.
I took a growth spurt when I was thirteen or fourteen. However my younger brother was still of trick or treating age. Mom was pregnant with my sister and my Dad was away with the Navy so I was asked to take my brother around trick or treating. I didn’t want to not wear a costume and look like a doofus so I dressed up and brought a treat bag. I can’t tell you how many dirty looks I got from people in some houses and apartments! And more than a few snarky comments!
I swore then and there that I would never be “that” person and make a kid feel like that again.
Folks, you’re never too old to trick or treat.
