Totally Awesome Win for Big Art and Small Towns

Big Art for Small Towns.

That’s this month’s winning idea through the Awesome Foundation of the South Shore.

Ashton Rodenhiser and business partner, Charity Fraser, beat out two other competitors to take home $1,000 dollars toward their ‘Small Towns Big Art Symposium for Rural Creativity’ at the Big Ex Friday night.

They beat out two other competitors for the prize after delivering a 4 minute pitch live on stage.

For Rodenhiser and Fraser, their plan was simple; with so much artistic creativity in small communities throughout the province, they wanted to better connect those communities to share their creativity on a broader spectrum and learn from each other by holding a symposium next month.

Both knew the judges had a tough decision to make over three awesome pitches.

“I think the fact that it was happening so quickly in two weeks time, and I hope the fact that it really has province-wide impact and not just in our own community was a good feature for them,” says Rodenhiser.

The Awesome Foundation of the South Shore is made up of three groups of 10 local business owners, called the Trustees of Awesome. And every month, the Awesome Foundation of the South Shore gives away $1,000 to someone to do something awesome.

People pitch their idea and the Trustees of Awesome decide who will be awarded the money.
