Active transportation money will help two trail groups in Lunenburg and Queens counties.
The Dynamite Trail, running from Martins River to Mahone Bay, received $4,500 for upgrades from the Connect2 provincial grant program.
Queen’s Rails to Trails Association is receiving $5,000 to help create a new trail linking Hunts Point, Summerville Center, White Point, and the Summerville Beach Provincial Park.
MLA for Lunenburg, Suzanne Lohnes-Croft, says it encourages people to get outdoors.
“It means more people will be able to get out, like families, and use our trails and be physical and fit.”
Also, the Municipality of Lunenburg is receiving $50,000 to widen the shoulders and resurface Pine Grove Road to create a bike or walking route.
More projects will be announced in the coming weeks, and all will be completed by March 10, 2017.
