Training Before Running Key To Avoiding Injury

It’s important to train before going from couch to 10K.

Running for charity is a great way to raise money for a cause, but requires an assessment of your physical readiness first.

Running Room’s coach, Bruce Bowen says a lot of work goes into fundraising for great causes, it would be a shame if you couldn’t get through the run comfortably and enjoy the event itself.

Bowen recommends a run/walk program in variable intervals before the event.

He says running without training not only leads to a high risk of injury, it’s also easy to get turned off the activity altogether.

There’s still time to train for the Terry Fox Run coming up next Sunday in communities around the Maritimes.
