Two charged after stolen vehicle found in Bridgewater

Two people are facing charges after Bridgewater Police recovered a vehicle reported stolen from Lunenburg County.

Police say an officer noticed a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta travelling through the Bridgewater Business Park shortly after midnight Sunday.

A check of the licence plate confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen from a Lunenburg County address.

Officers stopped the Jetta near King Street and Logan Road.

Three people were inside.

A 38-year-old Lunenburg County woman is charged with possessing property obtained by crime and breaching a court order.

She was also ticketed for driving without a valid licence or insurance and had been remanded in custody ahead of a scheduled appearance in Bridgewater Provincial Court Monday.

A 65-year-old Lunenburg County man is also charged with possessing stolen property.

He was released from custody with court-ordered conditions.

Police say the third person in the vehicle was released without charge.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Bridgewater Police Service.
