UPDATE: TSB Looking Into Local Boat Sinking On Georges Bank

Two investigators with the Transportation Safety Board of Canada are in Riverport.

The TSB is gathering information after one of the area’s fishing vessels sank on Georges Bank.

The boat known as ‘Bear Cove Point’ started taking on water around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

All four crew members were rescued by a nearby boat and arrived back in Nova Scotia on Wednesday.

Manager of Regional Operations, Pierre Murray, says they are trying to determine what happened.

“We have to talk with the crew and interview all the witnesses that could have some information to provide.”

It’s not known what caused the vessel to sink.

Murray says it could take up to a year to determine.

The TSB is an independent agency that investigates marine, pipeline, railway and aviation transportation occurrences.
